Lecture 8

In this lecture, we'll talk about a simple sonar application using 4 ultrasound rangers mounted on a servo and an LCD.

Summary:

The BASIC program we'll talk about in this lecture realizes a sonar using 4 ultrasound rangers (MaxBotics LV-EZ2) mounted at 90 degree angles on a servo. This arrangement allows you to scan a full 360 degree view fairly quickly by just scanning ofer 90 degrees. The ultrasound transducers have to be fired consecutively to ensure there's no interference between them. The results are displayed on an LCD (DC160-B) via a serial interface.
